Summary of Changes from Previous Version

This version of the Assessment Procedures includes the following key changes:
a. requirement for two to four assessment items for a standard 12cps unit, with a least one in the
first half of the study period/session;
b. maximum weighting of 60% for any single assessment item;
c. maximum weighting of 30% for the collective component of a group assessment;
d. maximum weighting of 20% for non-invigilated or automatically computer-marked tests;
e. removal of reference to Unit Information Guides;
f. marked assessment tasks, other than examination scripts, must be returned to students who have
submitted on time within 14 days of submission and no later than 7 days before the next assessment item is
g. a new late submission penalty regime (based on a model developed by the University of Leicester);
h. requirement that all exam papers and equivalent be reviewed for quality, content and accuracy by a
colleague prior to release to students; and
i. renewed emphasis on quality assurance and review, particularly where unit attrition and/or unit
fail rates are high.
