Summary of Changes from Previous Version

Clause 4 - For the 2013 admissions period and beyond, the Vice Chancellor's Executive Committee has approved

the removal of the non-refundable deferment fee.

Clause 7 - One year full time study or part time equivalence cannot be achieved through Certificate III or

Certificate Iv qualifications for the purpose of proving proficiency in English

Clause 8 - Schedule A

UAC have recently approved the addition of ten countries to the list of countries where an applicant will not

have to prove proficiency in English if the assessable qualification was undertaken in English. In order to

align with other Institutions participating in UAC and to adhere to the published changes in the UAC guide,

SCU would like to adopt these countries into our Schedule A.

Schedule B

Ensures consistency ie that all Tests are valid for the same time period of within the last 2 years and

differentiates them from High School studies within the Schedule. The code CCPE has been amended to CPE for

Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English. The code CCAE has been amended to CAE for Cambridge

Certificate of Advanced English to align with the UAC. In addition the required score has been amended to 52

for both tests.

Clause 19 - The current rule only allows exemption from the under 18 rule if gaining entry on completed Year

12 in NSW, QLD or equivalent. The proposed change will encompass other Year 12 based admission criteria such

as STAR, Head Start, Certificate III as part of Year 12 and Year 12 at TAFE.

Clause 48 49 - Due to changes in the Higher Education Support Act (HESA) Student Learning Entitlement has been

abolished, therefore the definition should be deleted.

Remission/refund claims can be considered beyond 12 months if circumstances that prevented lodgement

consideration within 12 months can be demonstrated. This change will align SCU rules with HESA.
