Summary of Changes from Previous Version
1. Level of Achievement - Exceptional circumstances clause for promotion
to Level D based on distinguished service. This clause has been removed as
the nature of the clause and the prescriptive eligibility requirements,
was considered no longer relevant;
2. Committee Structure and Membership- Introduction of an internal
committee to consider applications to Level B, with four prescribed
members:
Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research) (Chair);
Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic);
Chair Academic Board or nominee; and
Director of Teaching and Learning or nominee;
3. Level C, D and E applications to be considered by single committee,
membership as per current Level D&E committee, update to requirements for
internal nominated academic members - must be professor of the University.
4. New clause providing for VC to add additional member to committee who
identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, when considering an
application from an applicant who identifies as Aboriginal or Torres
Strait Islander;
5. Require unanimous decision of the committee to recommend an applicant
for accelerated promotion; and
6. Changes to procedures:
Applicants no longer nominate referees;
Reduction of independent experts for Level E to two;
Other material (up to 12 items) no longer submitted (in addition to
application); and
Supervisors no longer attend interview unless requested by the Chair.
Other minor changes include:
- Updates to wording to clarify meaning and purpose of clauses;
- Clauses with similar purpose have been combined;
- Some clauses have moved into more relevant sections; and
- Changes to reflect the current University Executive structure and
associated responsibilities.
