Summary of Changes from Previous Version

24.4.2025:  On recommendation from the Director, Workplace Relations, the Vice-Chancellor approved the removal of the policy on the basis that:

  1. there was no diminishment in the University’s authority to regulate smoking behaviour on campus,

  2. the Code of Conduct is explicit on the obligations of officers and affiliates to act with professionalism, ensure a safe and respectful environment and comply with University rules and signage,

  3. signage across campuses communicates expectations clearly,

  4. issues arising in practice, can be managed informally, or if required under relevant WHS, student conduct or staff misconduct processes.

1.8.2023:  Policy to be reviewed as part of the comprehensive Work Health Safety policy review project scheduled for completion by March 2025. Document remains fit for purpose until this time, as advised by Director, HR Services.
