Section 1 - Purpose and Scope

(1) The purpose of this Policy is to establish the University's graduate attributes.

Section 2 - Definitions

(2) For the purpose of this Policy refer to the Academic Board's Definitions Policy.

Section 3 - Graduate Attributes

(3) The graduate attributes for the University are:

Graduate Attribute 1

(4) Intellectual rigour:

1. a commitment to excellence in all scholarly and intellectual activities, including critical judgement.

Graduate Attribute 2

(5) Creativity:

1. an ability to develop creative and effective responses to intellectual, professional and social challenges.

Graduate Attribute 3

(6) Ethical practice:

1. a commitment to sustainability and high ethical standards in social and professional practices.

Graduate Attribute 4

(7) Knowledge of a discipline:

1. command of a discipline to enable a smooth transition and contribution to professional and community settings.

(8) Lifelong learning:

1. the ability to be responsive to change, to be inquiring and reflective in practice, through information literacy and autonomous, self-managed learning.

(9) Communication and social skills:

1. the ability to communicate and collaborate with individuals, and within teams, in professional and community settings.

(10) Cultural competence:

1. an ability to engage with diverse cultural and Indigenous perspectives in both global and local settings.
